Yesterday morning our new web server suffered a catastrophic disk drive failure. Fortunately we had a back up of everyone’s content from a couple days earlier, however the back still resulted in everyone loosing a couple days worth of data which could have been disastrous hence the reason for this tutoral.
Getting Started
First visit http://www.yourdomain.com/cpanel and login using your cpanel details that were sent to you when your hosting was activated. If you don’t have your details, or never recieved them please let us know using the contact form or by sending us an email.
Once Logged In
Once you are logged in, you should see the screen above or something similar as there are multiple themes you can choose from for cPanel.
Backups
Click the backups button that has been highlighted in green in this screen capture.
The Backup Centre
Once you’ve clicked on backups, you will be presented with the screen above where you can click a button to generate a full backup.
Generate a Full Backup
Click the button highlighted in green in this screen shot to generate a full web site backup. This will not only back up your files, it will back up everything! Email accounts, addon domains, MYSQL databases, EVERYTHING.
Backup Options
Here you can specify where you want the backup to be or if you’d like our server to FTP it to another server as well as set an email address to be notified when the backup is complete.
Completed Backup Download
Once you recieve your notification, you will now see a link to download your backup in the backup center. Simply click the link and download the backup.
I hope this helps everyone get sorted out and provides you with a clear way to back up your web site and other related data.
Thank you,
Andrew Goldenberg
